Estimate only // This calculator reflects the published 2025 WSIB Health & Safety Excellence Program structure and is not financial, legal, or tax advice. Actual rebates depend on WSIB approval, the topics you complete and have validated, your prior-year premium band, and your chosen WSIB-approved provider. Rebates are paid by the WSIB to the employer; Dashpot is not a WSIB-approved provider. Confirm figures with the WSIB program page and the official rebate estimator.

How the WSIB Excellence Program rebate works

The Health & Safety Excellence Program (HSEp) is the WSIB's voluntary program that rewards Ontario employers for building their health-and-safety system, one topic at a time. You work through topics with a WSIB-approved provider, a validator confirms each one, and the WSIB pays you a rebate. The rebate is a flat dollar amount per completed topic, set by the band your prior-year premium falls in:

  • $2,000 per topic — premium up to $50,000
  • $3,000 per topic — $50,001 to $100,000
  • $5,500 per topic — $100,001 to $250,000
  • $8,000 per topic — $250,001 to $500,000
  • $12,000 per topic — $500,001 to $1,000,000
  • $20,000 per topic — $1,000,001 to $2,000,000
  • $37,000 per topic — $2,000,001 to $5,000,000
  • $50,000 per topic — premium above $5,000,000
  • Cap, not a rate: the topic rebates above are based on your premium band. Their total is capped at 200% (two times) of your prior-year premium per action plan, only if the calculated topic rebates exceed that ceiling. The separate $1,000 incentive and member badge are available once your provider approves the plan.

Every topic needs two things: a written standard (your policy) and records proving you actually do it. The records are where most contractors lose time — and where attendance sheets fall short of what a validator wants to see.

Where Dashpot fits

Dashpot turns the five minutes your crew already spends on the morning hazard plan into a per-worker, per-hazard record of verified comprehension — exactly the kind of implementation evidence the program asks for, produced every day instead of assembled the week before validation. We're provider-agnostic: we make you application-ready for whichever WSIB-approved provider you already use. And as the estimate above shows, the rebate can more than cover the subscription.

Questions, answered

How much is the WSIB Excellence Program rebate?

You earn a flat rebate per completed and validated topic, set by your prior-year premium band — from $2,000 per topic (premium up to $50,000) to $50,000 per topic (premium above $5 million). A $280,000 premium, for example, sits in the $250,001–$500,000 band at $8,000 per topic. The 200% figure is a ceiling on the total topic rebate for an action plan, not a rate: it applies only if the calculated topic rebates exceed it. The separate $1,000 action-plan approval incentive is then added.

How many topics can I claim?

Up to five health-and-safety topics per action plan, within a 12-month cycle.

Does Dashpot pay the rebate or apply for me?

No. The WSIB pays the rebate directly to you, and you apply through a WSIB-approved provider (IHSA, ECAO and others). Dashpot is not a provider — it produces the per-worker comprehension records the program asks for, formatted and ready for whichever provider you choose. That keeps you application-ready without locking you to anyone.

Is this calculator official?

No — it's a free estimate built by Dashpot from the WSIB's published 2025 program structure, to help you ballpark the opportunity. For the authoritative figures, use the WSIB's own rebate estimator and program page.
